Actual species of parasitic worm, that inhabits intestines ...
Over half of animal species are parasitic or symbiotic or at least commensal. Earth is NOT friendly to life ...
The fangs are used to anchor the parasite into the intestine wall so peristalisis will not sweep it down the intestinal tract. Vermifuges oft work by sedating the worm into letting go and be flushed out. I'm not sure whether it ingests blood by the mouth.
Tapeworms, which have no facial features whatsoever, anchor themselves by hooks and/or suckers on the head. Nourishment is taken through the body surface. Destroying the body avails nothing, as long as the head remains, ever growing new sections of body, consisting entirely of a chain of reproductive systems , the entire purpose of the worm is mindless cancerous reproduction.
I don't think I've even seen it
& I realized immediately I did something JUST LIKE IT around the same time!!!
Dune is about the only Lynch film I couldn't get in to, but those worms were really cool.
The Deadly Spawn was a really cool one, they don't make em like that nowadays..
